God gave evangelists for the equipping and building up of the body (Ephesians 4:11–12). Many confuse evangelists with the roles of pastors or ministers. The word "pastor" refers to the elders of the church. Every Christian is a minister, or servant. Evangelists are simply preachers of the gospel. Their job is to "preach the word... in season and out of season" (2 Timothy 4:2–5).
MEET OUR EVANGELIST
Ryan began working with the East Shelby congregation in January of 2019. Born and raised in Beaverton, OR, he enjoys outdoor activities such as running and hiking, spending time with his three young children (Sterling, Heidi, Bennett) and his wife Rebecca, and following University of Oregon sports. He has been preaching for about fifteen years (Phoenix, AZ, Abilene, TX, Sweet Home, OR).
He presents sermons and Bible classes every week for East Shelby, striving to make each presentation practical, encouraging, and (most of all) Biblical. In addition, he offers one-on-0ne Bible studies, small group classes, and Bible-based counseling. If you're struggling with sin, looking to bolster your faith or Bible knowledge, or you just need a kind and willing ear, don't hesitate to get in touch with him!
